What is an AI architect?

For a Newhall shop, I want an AI architect to prove what happens when the front desk cannot answer. I design the workflow, connect its information and tools, set limits, and assign human responsibility. Then I test the whole route before asking you to trust it with a customer.

What am I actually hiring someone to do?

Show me the request your staff has to finish. I follow it from the customer's question to the person checking the answer, the record they update, and whoever follows through. That is where I start an AI design. I need to see where software can do the work and where a person still owns the decision.

Picture the Newhall repair shop in this example. The owner is under a vehicle. The front desk has a waiting customer. Who gets the unanswered inquiry? I want a name, the information that person needs, the response allowed, and a fallback if the route fails. My auto repair implementation page takes that shop-floor problem into the build.

How does that differ from writing a clever prompt?

A prompt tells the tool what to do. I also have to build everything around it. Where is your current service list? Can the assistant read the calendar? Can it book, or only request a slot? Who gets the failure alert? Until those questions have answers, a clever prompt leaves the shop with unfinished work.

I do not accept "appointment booked" as evidence of a booking. Show me the calendar record. An assistant can write the confirmation without creating anything. I require the booking system's confirmation before that statement goes out. I put that requirement in the software and test it. Telling the model to be careful cannot carry that whole responsibility.

What should I ask an AI architect before agreeing to a build?

Before you approve my build, ask me to trace a request to its final record. I should name the source, connected accounts, permitted actions, and person handling failure. Ask who controls those accounts. Ask how you get your instructions and records back if the arrangement ends. I want those answers in the scope you sign off on.

Then ask me to make it fail. Try an address outside your service area. Leave out required information. Ask for something you never authorized. Watch the response and the handoff. That is the distinction I make in my article on demos and finished products. A rehearsed demo can look finished while the person receiving the failed request has nothing useful to work with.

What does a working test look like?

For the working test, I send a request through the entire route with test records. I check where the message arrives and which approved information the assistant uses. I check its actions against your permissions. Then I open the destination system. The task or booking must be there, with enough detail for your staff to carry on.

Now I disconnect the calendar. I send an incomplete request. I repeat a message. I check for false confirmations and duplicate work, then ask the staff member to find the failure and handle it. I put the expected result beside what actually happened. You should be able to judge my test without reading a line of code.

What would you build for a local owner?

At Santa Clarita AI, I start where the work is getting stuck. In a service office, that may be incoming questions and callback requests. Before I suggest another app, I inspect the tools you already use. My Santa Clarita implementation work starts there. The first build needs a job you can point to and a result you can inspect.

I write down what the assistant may answer, what it must ask, and where it stops. Then I build a limited version for your staff to try. I have been coding since 1983. That does not exempt this build from testing. You should judge the system in front of you by what it actually does when something goes wrong.

Who looks after the system once it is running?

I need a name beside "update business facts" and a name beside "check failures." In a small shop, you may put the same person beside both. Write it down anyway. If the holiday hours change but the assistant reads the old schedule, the update has not reached the part of the business answering your customers.

When I hand over the system, your staff should know how to pause it, find pending work, and return to the manual process. I also identify changes that need another test. A new service area or booking rule can change the answer a customer gets. You need to be able to operate and inspect what I leave with you.

What should I ask before hiring an AI architect?

What is an AI architect?
For a Newhall shop, I want an AI architect to prove what happens when the front desk cannot answer. I design the workflow, connect its information and tools, set limits, and assign human responsibility. Then I test the whole route before asking you to trust it with a customer.
Does an AI architect need to build a new AI model?
I usually begin with the tools you have and the job they need to do. Connecting approved facts, permissions, and a working process does not automatically call for a new model.
Can my existing software be part of the design?
I check your software first. Your calendars, customer records, and communication tools may already do parts of the job I need the system to handle.
What should I receive at handoff?
I want you to have the written scope, tested instructions, account ownership details, a failure procedure, and a named person maintaining the business facts.
Do you build these systems locally?
I build and test AI systems for Santa Clarita Valley and Los Angeles County businesses. I explain the route from request to result so you can judge the work yourself.
